Football: Thirteen Bulldogs Garner National Northern League Honors

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College football program placed 13 student-athletes on the All-League team for the National North League, announced by the SCFA on Saturday. 

Makai Sat, Caden Harris, and Makai Puga led the way for the offense with First Team All-League nods. Sat, a sophomore offensive lineman, saw action in all nine games of the regular season and served as a pillar for the Bulldogs' front line. Harris tallied 11 touchdowns in the regular season with five 100+ rushing yard finishes in five of his nine appearances.

Puga was a unanimous selection at the wide receiver position of a standout sophomore campaign. The Arroyo Grande native has hauled in 1,112 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns on 65 catches thus far en route to an average of 17.1 yards per reception. He has a total of 1,674 all-purpose yards on the year with 492 return yards on kickoffs, 41 for punt returns, and 20 rushing yards.

Salofi Leasiolagi headlined the defensive effort as the lone First Team selection. The sophomore defensive end appeared in all nine regular season contests while tallying 36 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and one forced fumble. 

Adam Ortiz (C), Jacob Garbiso (OL),  Anthony Tucker (RB), AJ Vele (QB), and Dominic Soares (UTL) rounded out the offensive honorees with Second Team designations.

Second Team honorees for the defensive side of the ball included Zekiel Seumalo (DT), Jack Gentile (S), Jaaden Matthews (OLB), and Connor Wiles (ILB).

The Bulldogs closed out the regular season with an overall record of 6-4 while finishing in a tie for fourth in the league standings after going 4-3 in conference place. Both categories reflect one forfeit victory over Antelope Valley College. 

After a thrilling upset victory on Sophomore Day, Hancock earned a non-playoff bowl game bid and will face Golden West College on Sunday, November 24th, at 12:30 PM, in Huntington Beach at the Southern California Bowl.
