NEXT LEVEL: Jaaden Matthews Joins Western New Mexico Program
SILVER CITY, N.M. - Allan Hancock College linebacker, Jaaden Matthews, will continue his academic and athletic career next season at Western New Mexico University.
"I chose to attend Western New Mexico because they offer an excellent business program," Matthews shared. "Additionally, the coaches there have a strong winning mentality and made me feel confident that I would be well taken care of during my time there."
Matthews wrapped up his second season on the field with the Bulldogs in the fall. As a sophomore, the Texas native was tabbed as a Second Team All-League selection after his work on the defensive side of the ball. Matthews closed the season with 50 total tackles and 1.5 sacks while forcing one fumble.
"My time at Allan Hancock helped me become more mentally and physically prepared for my transition to Western New Mexico," Matthews added. "I am now more knowledgeable about the game of football than when I first arrived. I also feel more physically fit and stronger overall, which is a direct result of having coaches here that pushed me every day."
The Mustangs are a Division II member of the NCAA and compete in the Lone Star Conference.
I am very blessed to announce I will be continuing my educational and athletic career at Western New Mexico University! #AG2G #Committed @WNMUFootball @TheRealCoachNF @AHancockFball pic.twitter.com/fHDy0HtdM2
