
Myers, Minor Lead Bulldogs to 58-53 Win over El Camino at Bulldog Holiday Classic
Teyvon Myers returned with a vengeance from a one-game suspension with 25 points to lead the Allan Hancock College men's basketball team to a nail-biting 58-53 win over El Camino on Sunday during day two of the annual Bulldog Holiday Classic. The win improved the Bulldogs' record to 9-7 and set up a matchup with rival Cuesta College in Monday's consolation game.
Myers hit two free throws in the final seconds to seal the victory for the Bulldogs. Myers, who missed Saturday's game for disciplinary reasons, returned to go 9 for 15 from the floor. He made six of his seven free throws in 30 minutes of play.
Kadeem Minor poured in 11 points, all in the second half, to go with 5 rebounds. The freshman buried a 3-pointer to give Hancock its largest lead of the game 41-30 with 11:28 to go in the game. Then with the Bulldogs ahead by three points, Minor made a key layup as he was fouled. The three-point play gave the Bulldogs a 55-49 lead with four minutes left.
Freshman DJ Billingsley came off the bench to pull down a team-high 12 rebounds to go with 7 points for the Bulldogs. Fellow freshman Andre Miller dished out 5 assists and pulled down 4 rebounds.

Hancock outrebounded the Warriors 32-26. Hancock shot 44.2 percent from the floor for the game compared to 41.2 percent for El Camino. The Bulldogs made 15 of their 23 free throws for a 65.2 percent mark.
Marcus Clark led the Warriors with 11 points. El Camino dropped to 2-8 on the season and was eliminated from the tournament.
Myers came off the bench in the first half with Hancock trailing 5-0 about three minutes into the game. The freshman guard scored six quick points to give life to Hancock's offense. Hancock took its first lead of the game on a dunk from Myers to go up 11-9 with 10:02 to go in the first half. He later scored three-straight points on a bucket and a free throw to give Hancock a 19-16 lead. The Bulldogs never trailed the rest of the game and carried a 24-20 lead into halftime.
Earlier on Sunday, Cuesta turned a five-point halftime lead into a 79-54 win over Santa Barbara City College. Oscar Pedroso was 10 for 11 from the floor, including 4 for 5 from 3-point range to lead the Cougars with 26 points. Alejandro Jorda added 21 points for Cuesta, including a 9 for 11 effort from the floor. Cuesta improved to 9-7, while the Vaqueros dropped to 1-8. Prince Arceneaux led SBCC with 16 points and 9 rebounds.
The semifinals are set to follow the Hancock game on Sunday. Bakersfield (9-4) faces No.2 Fresno (14-1) at 5 p.m. Defending tournament champion San Jose (8-5) battles Rio Hondo (5-8) at 7 p.m.
Cuesta and Hancock will meet for the first time this season in the consolation game on Monday at 1 p.m. The third place game is set for 3 p.m., with the championship game to start at 5 p.m.
