Hancock Basketball Fans Invited to "Meet the Bulldogs" Night
Basketball fans can get a sneak peek of the 2014-15 Allan Hancock College men's and women's basketball teams. The college will host a "Meet the Bulldogs" event on Wednesday, October 22, at 5:30 p.m. inside Joe White Memorial Gymnasium on the Santa Maria campus. The second annual event is free and open to the public.
"Hancock coaches and players are thrilled to kick off the season with this event," said second-year women's basketball head coach Cary Nerelli. "Last year, "Meet the Bulldogs" was a huge success and we are determined to make the 2014 edition even better."
The event will feature a men's blue and gold intrasquad scrimmage, as well as a showcase of the women's team. There will also be a raffle ticket drawing, as well as free hot dogs and drinks.
"Building and developing relationship in the Central Coast basketball community have been major priorities of mine," said men's basketball head coach Tyson Aye, who launched the Hancock Youth Basketball Club in the spring. "This event is an extension of that. Fans can come meet the team and really get behind Bulldog basketball."
The men open the season against Chaffey College November 7, at a tournament hosted by Cuesta College. The Bulldogs won 16 games during Aye's first season at Hancock last year. They advanced to the Regional Playoffs for the fourth straight year.
The women start their season at West Hills-Lemoore on November 8. Coach Nerelli's squad is coming off the program's winningest season in 11 years.
