Hancock Men's Basketball Jumps to No. 15 in State Poll
In the latest installment of the California Community Colleges Men's Basketball Coaches Association (CCCMBCA) Poll, the Allan Hancock College men's basketball team climbed one spot to No. 15 in the state. The Bulldogs remained No. 8 in the Southern California Regional Poll. It is the final poll where coaches have a say. Next week's regional seeding will determine the final CCCMBCA rankings. Playoff pairings will be announced next Monday.
The Bulldogs start the final week of the regular season tied for first place with Ventura in the Western State Conference's North Division at 7-1. The Pirates (7-1, 19-8) are ranked No. 18 in the state and No. 9 in the south.
Riding a seven-game winning streak, the Bulldogs are 20-8 overall, reaching the 20-win mark for the first time in five seasons. Hancock and Ventura both have two conference games to play this week. Hancock will play at Cuesta (4-4, 14-15) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, before closing the regular season at home Saturday at 5 p.m. against Oxnard (3-5, 5-12). Ventura will travel to Oxnard Wednesday and host Santa Barbara (0-8, 1-20) on Saturday.
Both games will be streamed live on the college's athletics website at http://athletics.hancockcollege.edu/video/streaming .
Hancock is vying for its 17th conference title in program history and first since sharing the crown during the 2014-15 season.
The top-five ranked teams in the state poll this week are San Francisco, San Diego City, Santa Rosa, San Bernardino and Cerritos.
