Four Bulldogs Earn All-Conference Honors, Riddick Named Defensive Player of the Year

After securing the program's second straight trip to the CCCAA Regional Playoffs, four Allan Hancock College men's basketball players have scored All-Western State Conference honors, including a Defensive Player of the Year award.

Sophomores Spirit Ricks, JT Riddick, and Glenn Jordan were voted to the First Team. Ricks, a 6-foot-7 forward who earned first team honors for the second straight year, averaged 11.5 points and 6.2 rebounds during the regular season for the Bulldogs.

Riddick, a 6-foot-9 post player, earned the conference's Defensive Player of the Year award. He averaged 9.1 points per game, and a state-best 3.2 blocks per game. Riddick blocked seven shots against both Chabot and Cabrillo this season, scoring a season-best 21 points against West Hills.

Jordan averaged a team-best 12 points per game, shooting .354 from 3-point range and .471 overall from the field. The Washington native earned honorable mention honors as a freshman.

Freshman guard Mike Mensah earned honorable mention honors after averaging 9.6 points per game. He led the state with a 3-point shooting percentage of .550.

The Bulldogs finished the regular season 22-6 overall and 7-3 in conference play. Hancock opens the 2019 Regional Playoffs at home against San Diego Miramar on Wednesday, February 27.
