Men's Basketball Picks Up Two Wins at Annual Home Motors Tournament

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's basketball team won twice and lost once at the annual Home Motors Tournament, hosted inside of the Joe White Memorial Gymnasium. Taevon Pierre-Louis and Onias Outlaw were selected to the All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the event for their performances throughout the weekend.

GAME ONE: AHC 50, SAN JOSE 54 | BOX SCORE

The Bulldogs fell short in game one of the three-day tournament in a 54-50 decision against San Jose City College on Friday evening. Both teams struggled from distance with a 10 percent showing from the three-point line in the back-and-forth affair. The Jaguars' productive bench proved to be a factor down the stretch as they outscored Hancock's reserves at a 32-8 margin.

Taevon Pierre-Louis led the Bulldogs with 18 points, followed by 13 tallies from Onias Outlaw. Collin Oestereich and Cleevas Craig were tops in the paint with seven rebounds apiece, while Caleb Whalen dished out a team-best mark of three assists.

GAME TWO: AHC 83, SANTA BARBARA 67 | BOX SCORE

Coach Aye's squad bounced back in game two with a solid non-conference showing against Santa Barbara City College that led to an 83-67 victory. Teams were nearly even through most of the contest as one point separated the programs with 10 minutes remaining in the second half, but a three-pointer from Whalen and back-to-back dunks by Kevin Kogbara sparked a 9-0 run and built separation for the home crew down the stretch. The Bulldogs dominated inside, outrebounding SBCC at a 38-26 margin while registering 40 points in the paint.

Outlaw led five double-digit scorers for Hancock on day two after pouring in 19 points. Quincy Bently added 14 points off the bench while Pierre-Louis had a double-double that featured 17 rebounds and 13 points. Whalen and Darryl Brooks II rounded out the top scorers with 11 points apiece while Outlaw dished out a career-high of seven assists.

GAME THREE: AHC 60, SAN DIEGO CITY 50 | BOX SCORE

Hancock opened the final tournament game with a strong first-half surge and led at the intermission, 38-25, over the visiting Knights. Once again, the Bulldogs owned the action on the inside after outscoring San Diego at a 32-26 margin in the paint and finishing +18 in the rebounding column.

Brooks and Pierre-Louis led all scorers on the day with 15 points apiece, followed by 10 points off the bench from Bentley. Pierre-Louis also registered his second consecutive double-double after securing 15 rebounds, while Brooks narrowly missed the accolade by snagging nine boards.

The Bulldogs are set to return to action on Wednesday, November 23rd, with a road trip to Cerritos College before the holiday break.
