Men's Basketball Overcomes Deep Deficit to Top WHC Lemoore, Pierre-Louis Tabbed as NSBCRT Athlete of the Week

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's basketball overcame a steep second half deficit to top West Hills College Lemoore on Saturday afternoon inside of the Joe White Memorial Gymnasium. | BOX SCORE

The Golden Eagles (6-3) held a 13 point lead with just over 13 minutes remaining in the game before a steal by Zachary Asleson led to a layup by Quincy Bently that sparked a 13-0 run through the next seven minutes of play. Taevon Pierre-Louis gave the Bulldogs (5-5) their first lead of the night with an offensive rebound and a putback attempt with 7:20 left on the clock. Teams continued to trade baskets down the stretch, leaving Lemoore with a one point advantage in the final 30 seconds. The visitors called a full timeout after scoring the go-ahead basket, but Bently answered with a game-winner from distance on an assist from Pierre-Louis.

As a team, the Bulldogs shot a red-hot 50.7 percent from the floor but struggled for efficiency from both the three-point line (17.9%) and the charity stripe (45.5%). Both programs were even in nearly all major statistical categories, but the home squad dominated the Golden Eagles inside offensively after putting up 58 points in the paint.

Pierre-Louis led the effort and narrowly missed out on a triple-double after registering 24 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists. His effort was recognized on Monday afternoon when he was named as the Northern Santa Barbara Country Round Table Male Athlete of the Week. The Ohio native finished the night with a 12-for-18 mark from the field en route to his sixth double-double of the season.

Kevin Kogbara makes a massive impact off the bench after pouring in 17 of 32 total points for the reserves with an 8-for-13 performance. Onias Outlaw and Vondre Chase rounded out the top scorers with 11 points and 10 points, respectively.

Coach Aye's squad is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, December 10th, to face off against Santa Monica College on the road.
