Men's Basketball Takes Round One Against Rival Cougars, 81-70

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's basketball team picked up a fourth consecutive victory after topping rival Cuesta College, 81-70, in a Western State Conference battle on Wednesday evening. | BOX SCORE

The Bulldogs (12-6, 2-0 WSC) surged ahead early after jumping out to an early 18-point advantage and maintained the momentum through to the end. Both programs hovered around the mid-40 percent mark from the floor but Hancock's aggressive defense limited the hosting Cougars (9-9, 0-2 WSC) to a cold 33.3 percent from distance. Coach Aye's crew also dominated inside with a 39-24 advantage on the boards. 

Taevon Pierre-Louis led the visiting squad in scoring after pouring in a career-high of 27 points after an impressive 12-for-24 finish from the field. The Ohio native also snagged 13 rebounds en route to his 11th double-double of the season while also chipping in with two steals and two blocks. Onias Outlaw added to the effort with 13 points and dished out a team-best mark of six assists. Quincy Bentley and Kevin Kogbara rounded out the top performers with 12 points and 10 points, respectively. 

The Bulldogs are set to return to play on Saturday, January 14th, with a trip to Moorpark College.
