Men's Basketball Remains Unbeaten in WSC Play after Thrilling Win over Moorpark

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's basketball team picked up an 11th straight victory after topping Moorpark College, 76-73, in a league showdown at home on Saturday afternoon. | BOX SCORE

The Raiders (14-6, 3-1) led by one possession at the intermission after the home squad erased a nine point deficit in the final two minutes of play. Moorpark opened the second half with a 9-0 streak of their own before the Bulldogs (15-4, 3-0) could find the basket. Taevon Pierre-Louis used a layup to break the scoring drought while sparking a 6-0 rally with 17:11 remaining. Hancock continued to chip away at the difference down the stretch before eventually bringing the game to a tie just six minutes later. Both programs battled through a back-and-forth exchange until a three-pointer from Jeremyah Aquino gave Coach Aye's crew a lead that they would ride out through the final four minutes.

The two teams were nearly even from the floor after both shot roughly 45 percent from the field to go along with an identical 31.3 percent mark from distance. Hancock found success on the inside with 24 second-chance points and held a 40-35 advantage on the boards while notching 46 points in the paint. The home crew also saw an impressive showing from the reserves who went on to outscore Moorpark's bench, 35-4.

Jaden Pena led the Bulldogs with a season-high mark of 20 points, followed by 16 from Mylo Santos and 11 by Pierre-Louis. Santos also snagged a team-best mark of nine rebounds on the night while Assad Madassalia recorded three blocks.

The Bulldogs are set to continue league action on Wednesday, January 24th, at LA Pierce College.
