Men's Basketball Completes First Round Sweep with a Win over Ventura

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's basketball program wrapped up round one of Western State Conference (North) action with a decisive victory at home over Ventura College in a 78-50 decision on Wednesday evening en route to their 14th consecutive win. The Bulldogs (18-4) went 6-0 against league foes to open the conference slate and have a one-game advantage over Moorpark College (16-6, 5-1) as they head into the final stretch of the regular season. | BOX SCORE

The two teams exchanged baskets on the opening four possessions before a three-pointer by Jeremiah Aquino gave Hancock with 16:39 remaining that they would ride out through to the end. Hancock finished with a red-hot 48.4 percent mark from the field while limiting VC to a slim 13.3 shooting percentage from distance. The home squad also dominated in the paint after outrebounding the Pirates, 44-31, while scoring 46 points inside. 

Mylo Santos led all scores on the night with 18 points followed by a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double from Taevon Pierre-Louis. Noah Haaland also finished in double figures with 10 points off the bench while Assad Madassalia tacked on four blocks. 

The Bulldogs will open the second round of conference play at home on Wednesday, February 7th, against Oxnard College for the 11th Annual Carney's Coaches vs Cancer game. All proceeds from the contest will be donated to the Mission Hope Cancer Center. Single-game tickets for the contest, which is scheduled to begin at 5 PM inside of the Joe White Memorial Gymnasium, can be purchased at ahcbulldogs.com/ticketing. As per usual, the ticketing gate will be cashless and fans are strongly encouraged to purchase their tickets prior to arrival, but credit/debit card purchases can be made at the gate
