No. 10 Bulldogs Knock Off No. 7 Santiago Canyon in Round Two

ORANGE, Calif. - The No. 10-seeded Allan Hancock College men's basketball team knocked off No. 7 Santiago Canyon College in the second round of the 2024 Southern California Regional Tournament on Saturday afternoon in a 62-55 decision. | BOX SCORE

The back-and-forth affair saw nine ties and seven lead changes throughout regulation with just a two-point difference at the intermission. As a team, the Bulldogs (24-6) shot 44.0 percent from the field while notching 38 points in the paint and limited the hosting Hawks to a 29.2 percent finish. Coach Aye's crew also outrebounded SCC, 43-28, but committed almost twice as many turnovers as Santiago Canyon. 

Taevon Pierre-Louis led the way with 17 points after a 6-for-15 finish from the field and five made attempts at the charity stripe. The Ohio native also hauled in 12 rebounds while dishing out five assists and securing two steals. Mylo Santos followed with a double-double of his own that included 18 rebounds and 13 points. Assad Madassalia rounded out the list of double figure finishers with 11 points while also racking up four blocks.

The Bulldogs will be back in action for the Regional Finals in round three on Saturday, March 9th, on the road at No. 2 San Diego City College. The winner of that contest will earn a berth to the final site of the 3C2A State Championship at Mt. San Antonio College on March 15-17.
