
No. 14 Men's Basketball Draws No. 19 Santa Ana for Round One of SoCal Playoffs
SANTA MARIA, Calif. - For the second consecutive season, the Allan Hancock College men's basketball program will host round one of the Southern California Regional Playoffs. The Bulldogs drew the No. 14 seed after finishing the regular season with a 19-9 record (9-3 WSC) and will host No. 19 Santa Ana College on Wednesday, February 26th. This also marks the third consecutive playoff birth for Hancock and the sixth for the program in seven seasons. | FULL BRACKET
The visiting Dons closed out the regular season with a 17-13 overall mark and a 7-10 record against Orange Empire Conference foes. This is the first postseason appearance for Santa Ana since the 2013-14 season when they clinched a share of the OEC title before making a first round exit in the playoffs.
Pairings for the regional competitions were announced on Sunday afternoon as 48 teams begin their quest for a state championship which will culminate at Mt. San Antonio College in March. The second round will take place on Saturday (March 1) with regional finals scheduled for Saturday, March 8. After the regional finals, the four remaining teams from NorCal and SoCal will advance to the 3C2A State Championship Tournament at Mt. SAC on March 13 and March 15-16. There are no men's games on Friday, March 14.
The AHC/SAC contest will tipoff at 6 PM inside of the Joe White Memorial Gymnasium in Santa Maria. Tickets are currently available for purchase on the ahcbulldogs.com/ticketing website or can be purchased at the ticketing gate with a debit or credit card. Per the 3C2A guidelines, ticket prices are as follows: Adults - $12, Students - $8, Senior Citizens - $8, and Children (6+) - $8. Children under the age of six receive free admission. Please note that the ticketing gate is cashless and that season and/or conference passes are not valid for postseason events. Animals, other than service animals, are not permitted at the venue.
The winner of Wednesday's contest will advance to round two and travel to face No. 3-seeded East LA College on Saturday.
