Men's Golf to Compete at the SoCal Regionals
May 2, 2011
Ranked third in the Western State Conference at the end of the regualr season, the men's golf team had to compete for their spot in the Southern California Regionals. It was close, but the Bulldogs won their spot in the regional playoffs by five shots over Santa Barbara City College. The Bulldog's final score was 774.
The team will play at the SoCal Regionals on Monday, May 9. If the Bulldogs advance as a team it will be the first time that the entire team competed at the state finals. The top four teams and eight individuals at the SoCal Regionals move on.
"They're capable of going to state if they all play as well as I've seen them play," said head coach Mike Denne.
The men's golf team was composed entirely of freshmen this season and Denne said he looks forward to having his players back in 2012.
"We've had great individual performances in the past," he said, "but as a team this is the best we've played in more than five years."
