Two Hancock Golfers Headed to the State Finals

Two Hancock Golfers Headed to the State Finals
Two Allan Hancock College golfers have the chance to compete for the state title on Monday, May 16 at the Kings River Golf and Country Club in Kingsburg, Calif. Freshmen Matt Sobczak and Austin Kaiser will represent the Bulldogs at the tournament.

“It’s an elite group of golfers that have this chance and it’s an honor to have our team represented,” said head coach Mike Denne.

Sobczak and Kaiser qualified for the finals at the SoCal Regionals on May 9. Sobczak, a 2011 All-Conference first-team selection, placed second at the SoCal Regionals with a score of 73 and 73 in two rounds, ending two over par. Kaiser placed sixth overall with a 73 and a 77. The Hancock team placed seventh overall.

Allan Hancock College placed third in the Western State Conference this season. Five out of the six individuals playing for the Southern Section at the state finals belong to teams from the WSC, proving just how tough the conference was this season, Denne said.
