Bulldogs Card Season-Best, Finish Fourth at WSC Tournament #7

Led by a one-under 71 from Triston Ioppini, the Allan Hancock College men's golf team carded a season-low team score on its way to a season-best fourth place finish at the Western State Conference Meet hosted by Citrus College on Monday. The seventh conference tournament of the year took place at the Marshall Canyon Golf Course in La Verne.

Ioppini, a freshman and Atascadero High School graduate, finished tied for 10th with his one-under score. The Bulldogs' Shawn Brackett and Alejandro Nicolini carded two-over 74s and tied for 14th place.

Canyons' Edouard Fiszel and Jeremy Choi of Bakersfield were co-medalists with five-under 67s.

Hancock's Corey Lockaton fired a 75 and Justin Roxbrough carded a 77 to go toward the team's overall score of 371. Canyons finished first with a 345, followed by Ventura at 363 and Citrus at 369.

The Bulldogs finished ahead of fifth place Santa Barbara by four strokes, while Bakerfield finished sixth at 376, Antelop Valley came in seventh with a 396 and Glendale finished eighth with a score of 397.

After seven conference tournaments, Hancock sits in fifth place in the overall standings at 20-29. Bakersfield is fourth at 21-28. Canyons sits in first at 47-2. Santa Barbara and Ventura are tied for second at 38-11. Citrus sits in sixth at 18-31, followed by Antelope Valley at 8-41 and Glendale at 6-43.

In the individual standings, Ioppini is tied for 10th place overall with an average score of 74.8, Nicolini is 15th with an average of 76.2, while Brackett is 16th with a 76.4 stroke average. Sidney Wolf of Canyons leads with an average round score of 69.

The Bulldogs return to action on Monday, April 14 at WSC #8 hosted by Glendale at the Oakmont Country Club.
