Ioppini Leads Bulldogs to Fifth Place Finish at WSC Finals, Three Bulldogs Qualify for SoCal Championships

Triston Ioppini fired a four-over 146 to lead the Allan Hancock College men's golf team to a fifth place finish at the Western State Conference Finals at the Brookside Golf Course in Pasadena on Monday. He and two other Bulldogs also earned spots at next week's Southern California Championships.

The Atascadero High Graduate fired a two-over 74 on the first course and a two-over 72 on the second set of 18-holes at Brookside to lead the Bulldogs. Shawn Bracket, a St. Joseph High School graduate, fired a 77 and 74 for a combined 151. Alejandro Nicolini carded a 75 and 78 for a 153.

Justin Roxbrough fired a 72 and an 85 for a 157, while Corey Lockaton scored a 76 and 84 for a 160 overall score.

The Bulldogs finished with a team score of 767 thanks to a 372 in the first round and 395 in the second 18-holes. College of the Canyons finished first with a combined score of 712 (339-373), followed by Santa Barbara at 745 (358-387) and Glendale at 748 (367-381).

Canyons' Jonas Dahl earned medalist honors with a combined score of 139 after firing rounds of 65 and 74.

Brackett, Ioppini and Nicolini will represent the Bulldogs at the Southern California Championships on May 5, at the Stoneridge Country Club in Poway. The 36-hole tournament starts at 7 a.m. Canyons, SBCC, Glendale and Ventura will compete as teams in the SoCal Championshis.
