Ioppini Ties for Fifth at Second Conference Tournament of the Season

Sophomore Tristan Ioppini carded a three-over 75 to tie for fifth place overall during the second Western State Conference Tournament of the year on Monday. Santa Barbara City College hosted the tournament at Alisal Ranch Golf Course in Solvang.

The Bulldogs finished in fifth place out of eight teams with a combined score of 400. Freshman Robert Zimkowksi shot a seven-over 79, while sophomore Alejandro Nicolini fired a 77 to tie for 12th place. Also for the Bulldogs, Shawn Brackett finished with an 84, Justin Roxbrough shot an 85.

College of the Canyons won the team title with a total score of 374, edging the host Vaqueros by three strokes. Glendale finished third with 391, followed by Citrus with a 393. Hancock finished ahead of Bakersfield (407), Ventura (411) and Antelope Valley (416).

Jonny Hogan of SBCC won the individual medalist honors with an even-par 72. He edeged Matt Murray of Canyons and Brett Patton of Santa Barbara by one stroke.

Hancock returns to action on Monday, Feb.23, at a conference tournament hosted by Bakersfield College at Rio Bravo Country Club.
