Burrola Finishes Second Overall, Hancock Golf Finishes Fifth in First Conference Match

Freshman Adam Burrola fired a one-over 73 to finish second in the individual standings in the first Western State Conference match of the season on Monday. College of the Canyons won the tournament on its home course, the Valencia Country Club.

Canyons finished the par-72 course with 384 strokes. Ventura was second at 403, followed by Santa Barbara with 412, Citrus at 428 and Hancock with 438. Antelope Valley finished sixth at 441, followed by Glendale in seventh with 476 and Bakersfield with 515 strokes.

Will Barnett of Canyons earned medalist honors at two-under 70, three strokes ahead of Burrola, a Nipomo High School graduate.

Hancock sophomore Robert Zimkowski, a Righetti High School graduate, shot an 11-over 83 to tie for 14th place overall. Freshman Josh Salisbury shot an 88. Alexander Linn fired a 94, and Ryan Chamberlain shot a 100. 

Santa Barbara will host the second conference meet of the season next Monday, Feb. 15 at Alisal Ranch Course in Solvang.
