Swimming Continues Action at WSC Meet #1

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's and women's swimming programs continued the 2022 campaign by competing in the first Western State Conference meet of the season. The event took place at the Cougar Natatorium on the College of the Canyons campus. | FULL RESULTS

The men's program was the runner-up of the meet after totaling 88 points on the day. Cuesta won the event with a score of 176 while Santa Monica (85), LA Pierce (47), and Canyons (44) rounded out the field. Max Pecile led the Bulldogs with a pair of top marks in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.57) and the 100-yard backstroke (55.67). Pecile, Asa Marsalek, Elias Lopez, and Jarred Torres registered a 2nd place finish in the 200 medley relay with a final time of 1.47.70. Blake Simpson also earned a 2nd place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle after turning in a mark of 10:45.27.

The short-handed women's program finished in 4th place after scoring 41 points. LA Pierce and Santa Monica tied for the top spot with 82 points apiece while Cuesta finished in 3rd with a mark of 50. Lizzie Hernandez headlined the day for the women's team with a 1st place performance in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:23.24) while also placing 3rd in both the 200-yard medley (2:31.23) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:09.90). Jamielynn Allen also performed well after a runner-up time of 6:42.58 in the 500-yard freestyle and a 3rd place performance in the 200-yard freestyle (2:24.64). 

The Bulldogs are scheduled to return to action next month with a three-day event in San Luis Obispo, Calif. They will open the weekend at the Cuesta Sprint on March 10th, followed by two days of competition at the Cuesta Invitational on March 11th and 12th.
