Swimming Ends Season with Success at CCCAA State Championship

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's and women's swimming program wrapped up the 2022 campaign at the CCCAA State Championship, hosted on the East Los Angeles College campus. | FULL RESULTS

A total of five individuals and four relays represented the Bulldogs in sixteen events at the three-day competition. The men finished tied for 13th of 35 competing teams in their first finals appearance in program history after totaling 86 points. The women's program landed in 33rd of 39 teams after securing 15 points with just two swimmers at the event. 

Max Pecile headlined the men's team after tallying 41 points for the squad. He secured a runner-up finish in the 500-yard freestyle race with a time of 4:37.07, while also placing 6th in the 200-yard backstroke and 8th in the 100-yard backstroke. Blake Simpson totaled 12 points individually with an 8th place mark in the 1,650-yard freestyle and a 16th place finish in the 400-yard individual medley. The men's 800-yard freestyle relay - made up of Pecile, Jarred Torres, Asa Marsalek, and Simpson - added 22 points to the team's total after an 8th place showing with a final time of 7:14.14. Members of the 400-yard medley relay also added to the total with a 15th place finish. 

Lizzie Hernandez led the way for the women's team by notching 14 points. She claimed an 8th place spot in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 5:22.25 and earned a 14th place mark in the 200-yard backstroke. Julia Zimsen rounded out the scoring performers for the women's program with a 16th place finish in the 400-yard individual medley.
