Men's Swimming: Max Pecile Signs with Fresno Pacific

FRESNO, Calif. - Allan Hancock College men's swimming standout, Max Pecile, has signed on to continue his academic and athletic career at Fresno Pacific University next season.

"I chose FPU because there is one thing that I have not done with a team yet, and that is win a conference championship. Coach Bryan at Fresno Pacific really believes that my skill set, combined with the rest of the team, could really help FPU take home the conference title," Pecile shared. "I will be racing in the 200 back, 500 free, and 400 individual medley next year. I enjoy racing these events because they challenge my mindset and my body."

Pecile, a native of Santa Ynez, has had a decorated career throughout his tenure at Hancock. This spring, the sophomore received three individual and three relay team CCCAA All-America honors. The 2023 Western State Conference Men's Swimming Athlete of the Year also tallied 60 individual points for the Bulldogs at the conference championship after collecting three conference titles. As a freshman, he picked up two individual titles at the WSC Championship in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke events along with a runner-up finish in the 500-yard freestyle. Pecile currently holds 10 individual school records and was a member of record-setting relay teams for the program.

"My time here at Hancock prepared me for the future of my swimming career. Coach Mike made me the best swimmer I have ever been to this day. I hope to use the skills he taught me to further my knowledge in the sport and get faster so that I can help FPU secure a conference title next season," Pecile added.

The Sunbirds are a Division II member of the NCAA and compete in the Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference (PCSC).
