Swim & Dive: Women Finish Fifth, Men Sixth, at WSC Championship; Bravo Guzman Captures Two Individual Titles

VENTURA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's & women's swimming teams saw several school records fall while competing for three days at the 2024 Western State Conference (WSC) Championship over the weekend. | FULL RESULTS

The women's team finished in fifth of 10 scoring programs after accumulating 325 points through the three-day event. The men's team took sixth of nine programs with a final tally of 310 points. The top three finishers in individual events and the championship relay team received First Team All-Conference recognition while those placing 4th-8th individually, or second in the relays, were tabbed as Second Team All-Conference honorees. The third place relay team and all individuals landing at 9th-16th were named as All-Conference Honorable Mention designees.

Noemi Bravo Guzman paved the way for the women's program after securing two individual titles. Her first came on Thursday evening in the 200-YD Individual Medley where she set both a new school record and a new conference record after clocking a final time of 2:07.91. Her second title was on Saturday in the 200-YD Backstroke when she shattered her own school record with a time of 2:03.55. She was named as the Co-Athlete of the Year at the conclusion of the event.

Emma Marsalek also broke a pair of school records in the 500-YD Freestyle (5:07.51 / 3rd) on Thursday and in the 1,650-YD Freestyle event with a time of 17:56.89 en route to a second place finish on Saturday. 

An official announcement of 3C2A State Championship qualifiers is expected to be made public early this week. The three-day championship event is scheduled to begin on May 2nd on the Orange Coast College campus in Costa Mesa, Calif.
