Mondol Named Athlete of the Week by the Santa Maria Sun

The Santa Maria Sun named track and field athlete Khalil Mondol its athlete of the week on Thursday, April 16. The sophomore was honored for his 14th place finish at the Southern California Regional Championships in the men's decathlon.

The Righetti High School graduate set seven personal-bests in the meet that featured the top decathletes in the Southern California area.  In just his second decathlon, Mondol finished with a personal-best 3,404 total points. During the two-day meet, he set career-highs in six events: 110 meter high hurdles, discus throw, 1,500 meter run, 100 meter dash, long jump and shot put.
