Bulldogs Compete at Spring Fling Event

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College track & field program continued competition at the Spring Fling event, hosted by Bakersfield College. | COMPLETE RESULTS

Yasmin Mendez and Stephanie Arredondo each posted a pair of first place finishes on the women's side. Arredondo won the javelin event weight a season-best heave of 22.47m while Mendez won the steeplechase. 

On the men's side, Letarian Brandon won the 200m and the 400m while recording personal-best marks in both events. The men's 4x400m relay team (Jayson Garcia, Jorge Avalos, Ramses Valencia, L. Brandon) earned its second consecutive top finish of the season while shaving off nearly 10 full seconds of time of last week's performance. The squad posted a final time of 3:32.26. The men's 4x100m relay team (L. Brandon, R. Valencia, J. Garcia, J. Avalos) finished just 0.09 seconds behind the event winner en route to a second place performance (43.10 - PR).

  • J. Avalos - 200m (4th | 22.54), 400m (4th | 53.64)
  • Jan Gutierrez - Discus (2nd | 39.32m), Shot Put (4th | 11.51m)
  • Robert Lamb II - Javelin (4th | 31.24m)

Hancock is set to return to action on Friday, April 30th, for the WSC Mini Meet #2. The Bulldogs will compete against Bakersfield and Moorpark at the event, which is set to take place at the Bakersfield campus.
