Track & Field Collects Five First Place Finishes at WSC Championship

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College men's and women's track & field programs wrapped up the abbreviated Spring II season at the Western State Conference Championship, hosted on the campus of Bakersfield College, on Friday afternoon. | COMPLETE RESULTS

The men's program tallied a total of 83 points at the event, earning a 4th place finish through a field of seven. Ramses Valencia headlined the day with a pair of top finishes in the 100m (11.04) and the 200m (22.25), while Letarian Brandon notched a 2nd place finish in the 400m (49.56 - PR) and a 3rd place showing in the 200m (22.51). The 4x100m relay squad (Brandon, Valencia, Jayson Garcia, Jorge Avalos) led the pack with a time of 42.92 en route to the event victory. The 4x400m relay team, comprised of the same quartet, also notched a top finish after clocking a time of 3:28.54.

Yasmin Mendez led the short-staffed women's program with a top finish in the 3,000m Steeplechase after clocking a time of 15:55.16). As a program, the women's team finished in 7th place with 24 points.
