Stephanie Rodriguez Breaks Triple Jump Record as Track & Field Continues Season at WSC North

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College track & field program continued the 2022 campaign by competing at the WSC North meet, hosted on the campus of Bakersfield College, on Friday afternoon. | FULL RESULTS

Stephanie Rodriguez headlined the day for the women's program by shattering a school record after posting a mark of 12.41 meters in the triple jump, earning her a 1st place finish. The previous record of 11.62 meters was set by Britanie Smith during the 2010 season. Reann Booker earned a top finish on the day with a final time of 12.53 in the 100-meter dash. Kiana San Juan, Rodriguez, Lilianna Soto, and Booker also competed on the women's 4x100 meter relay team and earned a runner-up spot after clocking a time of 52.40.

Jessup Nocis led the men's program with a top mark in the hammer throw after a heave of 37.46 meters, followed by teammate Jan Gutierrez who was second with a 34.96-meter mark. The Bulldogs narrowly missed out on a clean sweep of the event as Robert Lamb II landed in 4th after a 30.30-meter toss. Ramses Valencia had a 2nd place performance in the 100-meter dash after posting a time of 11.14. Valencia was later joined by Syre' Lewis, Avery Fondern, and Aaron Powell in the 4x100m relay as they earned a 3rd place finish with a final time of 44.26. Gutierrez and Jesse Garza went for 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in the shot put after just a 0.02-meter difference in their marks. Other top performances on the day included Nocis (DT, 4th), Cameron Carpenter (HJ, 5th), Luiz Diaz (1500m, 5th), and Powell (TJ, 5th). 

The Bulldogs are scheduled to return to action on Friday, March 4th, at the Cal Poly Open.
