Track & Field Sends Four Individuals and One Relay to SoCal Championship
NORWALK, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College track & field programs will be represented by four individuals and one relay race at the 2024 Southern California Championship after a solid showing at the prelims event on Friday at Cerritos College. The top nine finishers in the sprint events, along with the top 12 in the distance races and field events, from the SoCal Prelims advance to the next stage of competition. | FULL RESULTS
Itandehui Olea highlighted the day with a third place performance in the women's 10k after posting a final time of 37:29.49. She automatically advances to the 3C2A State Championship in this event, which was run as a "final" event at the prelims, and will enter with the third-best time amongst all competitors. Eva Luu may also join her teammate in the race on the big stage after placing ninth t the prelims, with a final determination to come following the NorCal results.
Olea and Luu will both compete in the 1,500-meter race after a fourth and ninth place finish, respectively, at the SoCal Championship. They will also both race in the women's 5k event after automatically qualifying from the conference championship at the end of April. India Dowling-Green will also represent the women's program in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash with a ninth place mark in both events at the prelims. She will be joined by Kiana San Juan, Emily Carpenter, and Belinda Hernandez in the 4x100-meter relay, which placed 8th on Friday.
Nasim Moody will be the lone representative of the men's team and will compete in the long jump. He tied for fifth at the prelims on Friday with a leap of 6.80 meters.
The SoCal Championship is set to take place on Friday, May 10th, back at Cerritos College in Norwalk.
