Track & Field: Women Finish 12th, Men 19th, at SoCal Championship
NORWALK, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College track & field program will see three individuals advance to the final stage after a number of outstanding performances at the Southern California Championship, hosted by Cerritos College, on Friday. The women's team took 12th through the field of 22 while the men landed in 19th out of 21 scoring programs. | FULL RESULTS
Itandehui Olea will represent the Bulldogs in three individual events next week after taking fourth in both the 1,500-meter race (4:51.12) and the 5,000-meter run (18:15.57). She also qualified to race in the 10,000-meter event, which she qualified for after a third place finish (37:29.49) at the SoCal Prelims. Eva Luu will join her in the 1,500-meter run after placing eighth (4:59.84). Nasim Moody will also compete at the state level as the lone representative of the men's program after a leap of 6.99 meters landed him in fifth place for the long jump.
The women's team saw a number of top-10 finishes nearly miss out on qualifying spots, led by India Dowling-Green who took seventh in the 100-meter dash (12.84) and ninth in the 200-meter dash (25.53). She was also joined by Kiana San Juan, Emily Carpenter, and Belinda Hernandez for a seventh place performance on the 4x100 relay team (49.75).
The 2024 3C2A Track & Field State Championship is set to take place on May 17-18 at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, Calif. Tickets will be sold on-site with pricing being $12 for adults and $8 for students with an ID/senior citizens (60+)/children (under 12).
