Cross Country Makes History at Lobos Invitational
CARMEL, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College cross country teams made history while participating in the Lobos Invitational event, hosted by Monterey Peninsula College, on Friday afternoon. The event came after a last-minute change after the SoCal Preview had been postponed due to the wildfires and poor air quality near Chaffey College. | WOMEN'S RESULTS / MEN'S RESULTS
The women took first out of five scoring programs at the event after seeing four athletes place in the top-10. Itandehui Olea led the way as the top individual with a final time of 19:40.6, followed by a runner-up performance from teammate Eva Luu (19:59.4). Araceli Medina (21:30.7) and Makayla Gonzalez (21:41.0) rounded out the top performers in 8th and 9th place, respectively.
On the men's side, John Gutierrez was tops for the program after earning his second first place finish of the season on the individual front after posting a final time of 20:19.8. Erick Marceleno also landed in the top-10 with a posted mark of 21:11.9, placing him at seventh. As a team, the men finished third out of six.
This is the first time on record that the men's and women's teams have swept the individual titles at a meeting.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Friday, Sept. 20th, at the George Brooks Memorial Invitational at Hidden Valley Park.
