The women's team secured the top finish out of 21 scoring programs at the event after seeing four athletes place in the top-20. They bested five ranked teams, including No. 2 Mt San Antonio and No. 3 Cerritos. Itandehui Olea led the way for the team with a runner-up showing with 168 individuals in the field after clocking a final time of 19:33.0. Eva Luu followed in the sixth place slot with a time of 19:57.0. Araceli Medina and Makayla Gonzalez rounded out the top performers for Youngblood's squad by coming in 16th and 19th, respectively.
The men's team also saw a significant improvement from last year's crew, which didn't produce enough finishers for a ranking, after placing 14th of 27. John Gutierrez was tops for the Bulldogs with a final time of 21:26.7, placing him at 6th. Erick Marceleno was the next finisher for the program after coming in at 32nd.
The teams will return to action on Friday, October 11th, at the Manny Bautista XC Invitational. The meet will be held in San Diego at NTC Park.
