
Chenault Named 3CFCA Southern California Pitcher of the Week
Allan Hancock College pitcher Katie Chenault is quickly showing she is a forced to be reckoned with in the circle and at the plate. The freshman has been named the Week #2 Southern California Pitcher of the Week by the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association (3CFCA).
The Righetti High School graduate was honored for helping the Bulldogs start their current six-game winning streak on Feb. 8. Chenault threw two complete games in the Bulldogs' 2-1 win over East LA and 6-4 win over West Valley during a mini-tournament at Cuesta College.
Chenault finished the day with 12 strikeouts in 14 innings. She allowed 12 hits and three earned runs. Chenault also went 3 for 5 at the plate with a home run and 3 RBI.
The Bulldogs won the championship at the Mt. San Jacinto Tournament this past weekend. Chenault fanned 39 in 27 innings, allowing just three earned runs on her way to a perfect 4-0 record. For the season, Chenault is 6-1 with a 1.72 ERA. She has struck out 79, walked just nine and allowed 49 hits in 61 innings.
Hancock opens its 2014 home schedule on Thursday, Feb.20, against Taft College. First pitch at the Hagerman Sports Complex is at 2 p.m. The Bulldogs' first four home games have been moved to the Hagerman Sports Complex due to on-going construction of the team's home field at Hancock.
