Thrice as Nice: Chenault Named So-Cal Pitcher of the Week

For the third time this season, Katie Chenault has been named the Southern California Pitcher of the Week by the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association. The Allan Hancock College freshman won the award for her performances during Week #8, which was two weeks ago.

The Righetti High School graduate threw her first perfect game at the community college level against L.A. Pierce. She retired all 15 batters she faced in a 28-0, five-inning win over the Brahmas. She struck out 14 of the 15 hitters she faced in the contest. She also struck out eight and allowed one walk in three innings in the opener of the doubleheader, a 30-0 win in five innings.

Chenault set the Hancock single-season record last week for most strikeouts in a single season. She followed that up with a 22-strikeout, 12-inning effort on Tuesday against Santa Barbara. She leads the state with 318 strikeouts. She ranks third in the state with 20 wins.

The Bulldogs return to action on Thursday at L.A. Pierce. Hancock is tied for first place in the Western State Conference standings with Cuesta at 11-3 in conference action. It will mark the first game played on the Bulldogs' newly renovated home field on campus.
