Rothanzl Homers, Chenault Shines in No.9 Bulldogs' 1-0 Win at Long Beach

(Long Beach, CA) Jessica Rothanzl hit a solo home run in the sixth inning and Katie Chenault threw a four-hit shutout with 15 strikeouts to lead the Allan Hancock College softball team to a 1-0 win at Long Beach on Friday afternoon. The Bulldogs, who are ranked ninth in the Southern California Regional, won their eleventh straight game to improve to 13-2-1 overall. Long Beach fell to 5-14.

Rothanzl clubbed her team-leading fourth home run of the season with two outs in the sixth inning over the center field fence. Rothanzl, Michaela Valencia, Megan Love, Chenault, Missy Regalado and Judith Salazar had one hit apiece for the Bulldogs. 

Chenault scattered four hits, four walks and struck out a season-high 15 batters.

The Bulldogs play a doubleheader on Saturday at Southwestern at 11 a.m., followed by a game against the fourth ranked team in the state, Mt. San Antonio College, at 1 p.m. at Southwestern.
