
Hancock Softball Soars to No. 4 in State Poll and No. 3 in SoCal
It has become hard for community college softball coaches around California to ignore the red-hot Allan Hancock College softball team. The Bulldogs, who are riding a 27-game winning streak, climbed eight spots to No.4 in the latest California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association State Poll. Hancock also jumped three spots to third in the Southern California Regional Poll. Both positions represent the highest rankings for the program in at least 16 seasons.
The Bulldogs enter this week a perfect 12-0 in Western State Conference play and 29-2-1 for the season. Hancock has already clinched its second straight outright WSC-Gold championship with three conference games remaining.
Palomar (27-3-1) remains the No. 1 team in SoCal, followed by Cypress (28-8). The Bulldogs defeated Cypress 1-0 last month. Citrus (26-8) is ranked fourth and College of the Canyons (23-8) is fifth. The Bulldogs are 5-0 this season against the teams ranked this week in the top 10 in the SoCal Regional.
Undefeated College of San Mateo, which is 33-0, remainss the top ranked team in the state. Palomar is ranked second and Cypress is third. The Bulldogs are tied for fourth with Diablo Valley (27-7).
Hancock plays at Cuesta on Thursday, April 16, at 2:30 p.m. The Bulldogs host LA Valley on Saturday, April 18, at 1 p.m. in their final regular season home game of the season.
Also this week, the Hancock baseball team hosts West Hills on Tuesday, April 14, at 2:30 p.m. in a non-conference game. The squad travels to Moorpark on Saturday, April 18, for a conference contest set to begin at 1 p.m.
The women's swim team returns to action this week at the Western State Conference Championships on Thursday, April 16, through Saturday, April 18, at Ventura College. The men's and women's track teams will compete at the WSC Prelims on Friday, April 17, at Ventura College.
