Jessica Rothanzl clubbed two home runs as the Allan Hancock College softball team blanked L.A. Valley 3-0 on Saturday during its final regular season home game. The Bulldogs, who are ranked fourth in the state and third in the Southern California Regional, improved to 31-2-1 for the season. L.A. Valley fell to 15-22.

Rothanzl went 3 for 3 and scored all three Bulldog runs. She hit solo home runs in the first and fifth innings, both long balls flew over the left field wall. The first baseman singled and scored on a Gianna Abatti basehit to center field in the fourth inning. The Bulldogs finished with six hits as Abatti, Megan Love and Judith Salazar had one single apiece.

Rothanzl increased her RBI total to 53, putting her two away from tying the program's single-season record for most RBI.

Katie Chenault faced trouble in the fourth inning when the leadoff hitter reached on an error and moved to second on a bunt single. After both runners advanced into scoring position on a bunt, the sophomore escaped the jam by retiring the next two hitters. Chenault allowed one hit and hit one batter. The Righetti High School graduate struck out 11 hitters, her 23rd game with 10 or more strikeouts.

The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday, April 21, when they play a doubleheader at Oxnard to close out Western State Conference and regular season action.
