Katie Chenault Named to All-American Team by National Fastpitch Coaches Association

Allan Hancock College pitcher Katie Chenault continues to score postseason accolades. The sophomore was named an All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). The Righetti High School graduate was one of two pitchers named to the 20-member NFCA California Junior College All-American Teams. A total of 10 players from California community colleges were named to the South Team, while another 10 earned spots on the North Team.

Chenault has been named the Western State Conference Pitcher of the Year and All-Southern California Pitcher of the Year for the second straight season. She was also named to the All-State Team.

Chenault leads the state with 34 wins, 383 strikeouts and 12 strikeouts per game. She ranks second with a 0.69 ERA. She has 24 games with 10 or more strikeouts.  Her strikeout total this season broke her own school record of 370 set last year. The Bulldogs, who are seeded second, play No. 10 Santa Ana at home at 2 p.m. No. 3 Cypress and No. 9 Santiago Canyon play at 4 p.m. in Hancock's double-elimination regional.

Three players who will travel to Hancock for the Super Regional were also named to the NCFA CalJC All-American South Team. Two Santa Ana players, Emily Whitecavage and Annie Dowling, as well as Cypress' Taylor Pierce received the honor. Whitecavage, a repeat All-American outfielder, has 36 stolen bases, 43 runs and it hitting .458. Dowling is hitting .347 with six doubles, 22 RBI and 27 runs scored.
