Kayla Stevens Named to 2015 Academic All-State Team

Allan Hancock College softball player Kayla Stevens has been named to the 2015 Academic All-State Team by the California Community College Fastpitch Coaches Association (3CFCA). Stevens was one of 43 athletes from 25 community colleges to receive the honor.

Stevens played in 19 games for the Bulldogs during their memorable 2014-15 season. The outfielder scored five runs, hit one triple and stole four bases. The Righetti High School graduate has a cumulative grade point average of 3.89 at Hancock where she is majoring in kinesiology. Stevens plans to pursue a career as an athletic trainer.

"Kayla's drive and determination to be great will take her anywhere she wants to go in life," said Hancock softball head coach Scia Maumausolo. "She has done an outstanding job in the classroom and on the field to set her up for success at the next level. I am so proud of her and her accomplishments as a student-athlete at Hancock."

Recipients had to complete at least 24 units of collegiate course work and maintained a grade point average of at least 3.50. The honorees will be recognized at an awards ceremony during the CCCAA State Softball Championships at Bakersfield College this weekend.
