Hancock Softball Falls 5-0 to First Place Moorpark

Four errors led to four unearned runs as the Allan Hancock College softball team fell 5-0 at home to first place Moorpark College on Thursday afternoon. The Bulldogs fell to 5-7 in Western State Conference play and 14-18-1. The Raiders moved to 9-2 in league and 20-6 overall.

Hancock finished with three hits, one each from Maggie Dasis, Judith Salazar and pitcher Shannon Peterson.

The Raiders scored twice in the first, both runs were due to Hancock errors. In the second, Moorpark doubled its lead with two runs that scored after a two-out error extended the inning for the Raiders. Moorpark scored its final run in the seventh inning.

The Bulldogs made four errors in the game.

Peterson took the loss after allowing 10 hits over seven innings. She struck out six and issued one walk. Peterson allowed five runs, but only one was earned.

Hancock was scheduled to play at L.A. Valley on Saturday, April 9, but the game was cancelled due to the wet forecast. The game will not be rescheduled. Hancock will return to action next Tuesday, April 12, with a doubleheader at Santa Barbara City College set to begin at 1 p.m.
