Hancock Softball Beats Grossmont 4-1 to Close Mt. San Jacinto Tournament

Maggie Dasis hit an inside-the-park home run, Myranda Morales went 3-for-3, and Bailey Killough pitched a complete game to lead the Allan Hancock College softball team to a 4-1 win over Grossmont Saturday to close out the two-day invitational hosted by the San Jacinto College. The Bulldogs bounced back from their first loss of the year to improve to 6-1. Grossmont fell to 2-2.

Grossmont took the early lead with a run in the first inning against Killough. Hancock got on the board in the fourth when Dasis was hit by a pitch and scored on a RBI-triple from Isabella Partida with the game's first run. Partida later scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Killough to give Hancock the lead for good 2-1.

Hancock added to its lead in the sixth when Dasis circled the bases for the team's first home run of the season. Killough later singled, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Leticia Hoobery, and scored a RBI-double by Morales to make it 4-1 Bulldogs.

Nikole Cody added a single and a stolen base. Hancock finished with seven hits in the game.

Killough went the distance in the circle. She allowed one run, eight hits, and struck out four to earn the victory.

After taking two of three at Mt. San Jacinto, the Bulldogs will return home to host College of the Canyons next Friday, February 17, at 2 p.m.
