Killough Named WSC Pitcher of the Year, Eight More Hancock Softball Players Receive All-Conference Recognition

Allan Hancock College softball's Bailey Killough was named the Western State Conference's Pitcher of the Year on Thursday afternoon. Killough was one of nine members of the co-conference championship team to receive postseason accolades from conference coaches.

Hancock ended the regular season 27-13 overall and 19-5 in Western State Conference play. The Bulldogs shared the conference title with Ventura College to earn their third conference title in the last four years.

Killough earned WSC Pitcher of the Year honors after she led the conference with a 1.39 ERA over 145 2/3 innings. The freshman went 16-6 and struck out 92 hitters. The Arroyo Grande High School graduate also hit .337 with two home runs and 28 RBI at the plate. It marks the third time in the last four years a Hancock player was named the conference's top pitcher. Katie Chenault won the award in 2014-15. Killough also earned a spot on the All-State Team.

Sophomores Larrissa Ostrander, Myranda Morales, Teanna Silveira and Shannon Peterson were named to the All-Conference First Team. Morales, a Pioneer Valley High School graduate, finished the regular season with a .342 batting average and 28 RBI, including multiple walk-off hits. Silveira, who was an All-Region catcher her freshman season in 2015, missed last season with a knee injury suffered in the preseason. The Righetti High School graduate returned this year as the team's catcher to provide excellent defense behind the plate. Peterson hit .329 with 20 RBI at the plate, as well as went 8-5 in the circle with a 2.79 ERA.

Christabel Chavez, Emily Gantt and Maggie Dasis, all sophomores, were named to the Second Team. Chavez hit .289, stole 18 bases and scored 25 runs for the Bulldogs. Gantt, who came on strong down the stretch, finished the regular season hitting .328 with eight home runs and 35 RBI. Dasis, a Righetti High School graduate, leads the team with 39 runs scored. The second baseman has eight doubles, two home runs, 28 RBI and 20 stolen bases.

Freshman Nakaila Fuggs, a Righetti High School graduate, received honorable mention. The third baseman hit .303 with 35 runs scored, four triples and 15 RBI. She leads the Bulldogs with 27 walks and 24 stolen bases.
