Softball Falls Twice at Fresno City

FRESNO, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College softball team fell twice in a road test at Fresno City College on Tuesday afternoon, snapping a seven game win streak. The Bulldogs move to 9-5 on the season after the losses while FCC climbs to a 12-3 mark. 

GAME ONE: ALLAN HANCOCK 4, FRESNO 10 | BOX SCORE

Fresno jumped out early after recording five runs in the opening frame, but the Bulldogs bounced back with a three-run effort in the third inning. Briana Munoz started the scoring with a line-drive single to left that plated one, followed by a shot to center from Madison Gamble that scored another. Xchelle Glidewell registered the final run of the frame with an RBI double to center. Both teams remained scoreless through the next two innings before the Rams were able to string together another five-run rally in the bottom of the sixth. Mya Mendoza rounded out the scoring in the final inning after being brought home on a bases-loaded walk. 

X. Glidewell was charged with the loss after tossing six innings in the circle. She struck out five batters but surrendered 10 earned runs on 11 hits. 

GAME TWO: ALLAN HANCOCK 5, FRESNO 9 | BOX SCORE

The Rams charged early again in the nightcap after posting five runs through the first two innings of action. AHC found its way on the board after an RBI single from Marissa Hein plated one in the third. Both teams rallied in the fifth after Mendoza came through with her sixth homer of the season by sending a shot over the fence and Antoinette Terrones plated one with a sacrifice fly to center. Fresno managed to stretch the lead back out with a four-run showing in the bottom of the fifth. Scoring ended for both sides in the top of the sixth after Gamble send two runners home with a deep shot to left. 

Ehsya Glidewell earned the start but suffered the loss on the rubber after appearing for 1.1 innings. She sat down one batter but walked three and allowed three earned runs. X. Glidewell closed out the contest in the circle but did not factor into the final decision. 

UP NEXT:

The Bulldogs are scheduled to return to action on Thursday, March 3rd, with a home showing against LA Valley College. The game is slated to begin at 1 PM at the AHC Softball Field.
