Mendoza Homers Twice in Big Win for Bulldogs

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Mya Mendoza went the distance twice as the Allan Hancock College softball program topped Oxnard College in a 12-1 decision at AHC Softball Field on Wednesday afternoon. | BOX SCORE

The Condors (4-26, 2-7 WSC) struck first with one run in the opening frame, but Hancock took the lead in the second after a two-run RBI from Lisette Coria. Bats stayed hot for the Bulldogs (17-12, 5-3 WSC) in the third frame as they rattled off eight runs to stretch the deficit. Mendoza headlined the effort with a pair of shots over the left field fence, leading her to a total of four RBIs in the inning. Carlissa Solorio notched her first homer of the season in the same frame with a shot to left center, plating three, while Madison Gamble drove in one after a single shot through the left side. The home squad tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the fourth after Ehsya Glidewell and Alexia Juarez-Wilhite each drove in one.

Mendoza led the Bulldogs at the plate with a 3-for-4 showing while tacking on four RBIs and two runs. Alyssa Jones, Gamble, Solorio, and E. Glidewell also registered two hits apiece while the team combined for four stolen bases in the contest.

Xchelle Glidewell picked up her ninth win of the season in the circle after tossing five innings and scattering six hits. 

The Bulldogs are set to return to action on Thursday, April 14, with a conference showing at Santa Barbara City College.
