Softball Falls Twice at Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College softball team suffered two road losses on Saturday afternoon to Southwestern College and Bakersfield College. 

The losses move the Bulldogs to 20-14 on the season, while Bakersfield moves to 34-6 overall after sweeping both opponents and Southwestern moves to 6-29 after splitting the day. 

Coach Maumausolo's squad is set to close out the regular season on Tuesday, April 26th, at home against Moorpark College. The game is scheduled to begin at 2:30 PM on the AHC Softball Field.


GAME ONE: AHC - 6, SOUTHWESTERN - 12 | BOX SCORE

The Bulldogs struck first in game one after scoring on an error in the opening frame, but Southwestern quickly responded with a run of their own in the second. AHC rattled off three runs in the third with a sacrifice fly from Xchelle Glidewell and a pair of RBI doubles from Mya Mendoza and Ehsya Glidewell, but the Jaguars answered back with seven runs through the net two innings. Alyssa Jones drove in one run in the fifth before SWC managed to add four more to the board across the next two frames. Madison Gamble notched the final run for both sides after sending her first home run of the season over the fence in the seventh.

X. Glidewell (9-4) was charged with the loss in the circle after tossing a complete game. She surrendered 12 earned runs on 20 hits while walking one batter through six innings. 

GAME TWO: AHC - 0, BAKERSFIELD - 8 | BOX SCORE

Offensive production struggled in the nightcap for the Bulldogs as they were scoreless through five frames. The Renegades ended action early with a walk-off in the bottom of the fifth, enacting the run rule. Abigail Salazar was the lone AHC member to register multiple hits after recording a single and a double. X. Glidewell, E. Glidewell, and Marissa Hein also notched one hit apiece. 

Briana Munoz was charged with the loss in the circle after 4.2 innings of work. She struck out two batters but surrendered nine earned runs on 11 hits.
