Softball Falls to Cuesta in WSC Showdown

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College softball team fell to Cuesta College, 7-5, in a Western State Conference contest at home on Monday afternoon. | BOX SCORE

After a scoreless opening frame, both teams registered one run apiece in the second when the Cougars sent a shot over the fence before Xchelle Glidewell drove one in with a single. Cuesta (12-12, 4-2 WSC) used a five-run frenzy to surge ahead in the next inning after posting a pair of RBI singles and a two-run homer. The Bulldogs (9-6, 3-2 WSC) evened the odds in the fourth when an RBI single from Lisette Coria and a double that scored three by Briana Munoz tied the game for a brief moment. Cuesta got the final say after going the distance for the third time of the day.

Alexia Juarez-Wilhite led the Bulldogs at the plate as the lone member to register multiple hits after a 2-for-3 showing. Abigal Salazar, Antoinette Terrones, and Delayna Quezada also recorded one hit each. Munoz was charged with the loss in the circle after a complete seven-inning game. She struck out six batters but surrendered seven earned runs on 12 hits while walking one.

Hancock is scheduled to return to action on Thursday, March 30th, with a trip to Ventura College for another league showing.
