SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The No. 16-seeded Allan Hancock College softball team is moving past the play-in round of the Southern California Regional Tournament after topping No. 17 Chaffey College in extra innings on Tuesday afternoon. The Bulldogs (23-14) opened the game with a four-run rally in the bottom of the first, sparked by a sacrifice fly to center from Madison Gamble that plated one. Delayna Quezada followed with a double to left, scoring two, before Antoinette Terrones drove one run home with a single to center. Chaffey (25-15) responded in the third frame with a five-run streak to take the lead, which they held until the bottom of the seventh when Gamble evened the odds. She brought the game to a 5-5 tie after a long single to center plated Lisette Coria, who was walked after battling through nine pitches in her at-bat to lead off the inning.

The Panthers used a walk and a single to place runners on second and third with one out in the top of the eighth, but a solid effort by Hancock's infield stranded the runners after back-to-back ground outs. In the bottom of the inning, Terrones got on base with a two-out walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Glidewell registered the game-winning RBI single by sending a hard-bouncing ball through the left side after glancing the pitcher's glove on a 1-1 count.

Quezada picked up her seventh win of the season after twirling a complete game in the circle. She struck out five batters and surrendered three earned runs after scattering eight hits.

The Bulldogs will now travel to face No. 1-seeded Palomar College for a best-of-three series beginning on May 5th at 2 PM. Game two is scheduled to being at 12 PM on Saturday and game three, if necessary, will follow at approximately 2 PM that afternoon. Due to construction on the Palomar campus, all games will take be played on Field 6 North at Bradley Park (1587 Linda Vista Dr., San Marcos, CA, 92078).
