Softball Places Eight on WSC All-Conference List

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College softball program had eight student-athletes tabbed as all-conference selections for the northern division of the Western State Conference at the conclusion of the regular season.

Abigail Salazar and Briana Munoz headlined the group by becoming two-time First Team All-Conference honorees. Madison Gamble, a second team selection last season, and Lisette Coria also received first team nods. 

Salazar has registered a team-high of 24 stolen bases on the season, ranking her 8th amongst all CCCAA competitors, and holds a .524 on-base percentage. The Ernest Righetti High School alum also holds a .933 fielding percentage after 163 total chances and has been involved in 14 of AHC's 21 double plays this season. 

Munoz led the Bulldogs with 47 RBIs, ranking her 5th at the state level, on 41 hits while only being struck out five times through 112 at-bats. She ranks second on the team with three home runs and nine doubles while leading the way with five triples thus far. Munoz has also secured 11 wins in the circle after tossing 14 complete games. So far, the Guadalupe native has struck out 59 batters through 118.1 innings pitched and holds a team-low earned run average of 4.91.

Gamble ranks second amongst teammates with 35 RBIs and is third for both batting average (.342) and doubles (8). She has caught two runners attempting to steal and has allowed just eight passed balls after spending 35 games behind the plate for Hancock. 

Coria currently leads the team with a .379 batting average and 44 hits after 116 appearances in the box. She also boasts a .947 fielding percentage with just seven errors in 131 attempts, primarily at the shortstop position. 

Mya Mendoza landed as a Second Team All-Conference selection for the second consecutive season along with Xchelle Glidewell, Danica Black, and Delayna Quezada.

Mendoza is tops for Hancock with a .621 slugging percentage, 10 doubles, and four homers on the season. The Lompoc native has batted in 28 runs, placing her third amongst teammates, and holds a .326 batting average.

Glidewell, who transitioned from pitching to first base this season, holds the team's best fielding percentage with a mark of .996 on 239 chances. She has recorded 19 RBIs on 25 hits while holding a .269 batting average. 

Black has served the Bulldogs in both centerfield and on the rubber during her freshman campaign. She currently carries a fielding percentage of .966 and a batting average of .276. The Orcutt Academy graduate sat down 14 batters and collected four wins through 47.0 innings of work in the circle. 

Quezada, a freshman out of Arroyo Grande, also pulled double duty as an outfielder and pitcher this season. She has collected seven wins while issuing 40 strikeouts after twirling for 66.1 innings. Quezada boasts a .337 batting average with 11 RBIs and seven doubles on 29 hits.
