Softball's Mya Mendoza Commits to Upper Iowa

FAYETTE, Iowa - Allan Hancock College softball standout, Mya Mendoza, has committed to continuing her academic and athletic career at Upper Iowa University next season.

"I chose Upper Iowa because my uncle played baseball there. I was able to take a visit to the school and loved the coach," Medoza stated. "I can't wait to play for them this season!"

Mendoza recently completed her second season on the diamond with the Bulldogs in the spring. She closed her sophomore campaign with a Second Team All-Conference nod after boasting a .590 slugging percentage while producing 10 doubles and four homers. As a freshman, the Lompoc native finished the season with a .363 batting average and an impressive tally of 10 home runs en route to earning Second Team All-Conference honors.

"My time at AHC has prepared me for success at the next level in many ways. I was able to grow and mature during my two years here while also improving my game," Mendoza added. "Playing both basketball and softball last year helped me learn and better myself so much. I can't wait to play at the next level."

The Peacocks are a Division II member of the NCAA and compete in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
