Softball Season Preview: Schedule Announcements, Season Pass Info, & More!

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College softball team is set to open the 2024 season in less than a month and the Bulldogs will look to build on last season's success with a completely revamped and rebuilt roster after seeing eight sophomores graduate. 


SNAPSHOT

  • 2023 record: 23-16 (10-5 WSC North, T-2nd)
  • Participants returning/lost: 2/11
  • 2023 athletes competing at the next level: 3
  • Notable losses: 
    • Abigail Salazar (24 stolen bases, .513 OBP, .935 fielding pct on 168 total chances / First Team All-Conference)
    • Briana Munoz (47 RBIs, .359 batting avg, 11 wins and 1 save in the circle / First Team All-Conference)
    • Madison Gamble (35 RBIs, 8 2Bs, spent 26 games behind the plate / First Team All-Conference)
    • Lisette Coria (.378 batting avg, 22 stolen bases / First Team All-Conference)
    • Mya Mendoza (.590 SLG PCT, 4 HRs, 10 2Bs / Second Team All-Conference)

THE COACHES

Scia Maumausolo will enter her 15th season at the helm of the program in 2024. During that time, Maumausolo has led the Bulldogs to three conference championships and four SoCal Regional Playoff appearances while amassing an overall record of 222-199-5.

Maumausolo will be joined by two long-time assistant coaches: Chastity "CJ" Johnson (13th season) and Jason Contreras (7th season). 


KEY RETURNERS

Danica Black was a Second Team All-Conference selection last season after spending time in centerfield and on the rubber during her freshman campaign. She carried a fielding percentage of .967 and a batting average of .267 through 39 games. The Orcutt Academy graduate also sat down 14 batters and collected four wins through 49.2 innings of work in the circle. 

Delayna Quezada was also a Second Team All-Conference designee last season. The Arroyo Grande native collected seven wins and one save in the circle while issuing 40 strikeouts through 70.2 innings. Quezada closed the spring with a .330 batting average with 12 RBIs and seven doubles on 30 hits.  


NEWCOMERS TO WATCH

Notable Transfers:
  • Shayla Bautista - Transfer from Cuesta College. Picked up a Second Team All-Conference nod last season after leading the Cougars with a .551 on-base percentage. 
Notable Freshman:
  • Rianna Dulay is anticipated to serve the program at third base this year. The graduate of X brings a work ethic and attitude that leads the way when it comes to her presence on the field. 
  • Kaylee Dolores is expected to step in and fill the role of the shortstop this season. The product of X has a great chance at chasing the program's stolen base record with her notable quickness. 

THE SCHEDULE

The upcoming schedule features 25 non-conference events and 14 games against Western State Conference (WSC) foes. | FULL SCHEDULE

The Bulldogs will open the season at home with a doubleheader against Fresno City College on January 27th. 

Conference action will begin with a home showing against LA Pierce College on March 7th and will come to a close at home during the regular season finale against Santa Barbara City College on April 23rd. 

Softball season pass packages, which are offered in three different tiers and grant access to all home baseball events during the regular season, are now available for purchase at ahcbulldogs.com/ticketing. Single-game tickets will also be available for purchase prior to the start of the season. As a reminder, cash will not be accepted at the ticketing gate or the concession stand. Fans who are not purchasing a season pass are strongly encouraged to purchase single-game tickets prior to arrival, but will also have the opportunity to pay for a ticket on-site with a credit or debit card at the gate.
