Softball: Bulldogs Fall in Home Opener Against Fresno City

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College softball team fell twice against Fresno City College on Saturday afternoon in the season opener at AHC Softball Field.

The Bulldogs are set to return to action on Tuesday, January 30th, with a road trip to LA Valley College for another non-conference doubleheader.

GAME ONE: FCC 12, AHC 2 | BOX SCORE

Each team scored in the opening frame with Fresno City holding a one-run advantage heading into the second. The Rams managed to plate three runners after two hits and an error. Kaylee Dolores put the Bulldogs on the board in the bottom of the frame by scoring on a wild pitch before Shayla Bautista came home on a bases-loaded walk. Bats were quieted for both sides through the next two innings before the Rams caught fire late with nine unanswered runs through the final two frames to force an early run-rule ending.

Delayna Quezada suffered her first loss of the season in the circle after twirling a complete game. She struck out two batters but allowed 11 earned runs and walked six through five innings.

GAME TWO: FCC 7, AHC 1 | BOX SCORE

Fresno continued their scoring frenzy in game two with another six-run showing in the first. Hancock registered a run in the second after capitalizing on a wild pitch before the Rams scored the final run of the game on the same scenario in the fourth. Both teams were scoreless through the final three frames.

Danica Black was charged with the loss after tossing all seven innings. She allowed seven earned runs and nine hits with five strikeouts and five walks on the line score.
